At DBF, we prioritize the wellbeing of our students, understanding that their wellbeing needs must be met before effective learning can take place.To achieve this, we use the Leuven scales, developed by Dr. Ferre Laevers, to track children’s wellbeing and involvement from the moment they join us. This framework allows us to closely monitor each child’s emotional and social development, ensuring they feel secure and supported. Our dedicated team uses these insights to provide targeted support throughout the settling-in process and beyond, creating an environment where every child can thrive academically and personally.

Play-Based Curriculum

At DBF, we proudly embrace a play-based curriculum, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. We believe that education should be a collaborative journey where children are active participants, exploring their interests and curiosities. Our approach is not top-down; instead, we encourage children to take the lead in their learning experiences.

As Dr. Karyn Purvis highlights, “scientists have discovered that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain unless it is done in play, in which case it only takes 10 to 20 repetitions.” This insight underscores the power of play in accelerating learning.
