DBF Art Exhibition

This year’s Art Exhibition in January was a huge success and highly appreciated by our parents and all visitors to the school. It celebrated each child’s unique interpretation of their favourite class story.

Every class at DBF has their own library with a selection of books that are changed and updated regularly to reflect the children's interests and reading abilities. This helps to support a love of reading which is extremely important for the children’s healthy language acquisition. It also plays a huge part in inspiring the children’s future writing development.

Our thirteen classes of children compiled one large panel of artwork each to suspend from the ceiling in our fabulous multipurpose gym. As seen in the photographs, the exhibition was stunning!

You might be interested to note what the children’s favourite books were.

In FS1 they chose:

Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl

Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae

Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz

Elmer by David McKee

The Book with No Pictures by B.J. Novak

In FS2 they chose:

Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney

Chickens Can’t See in the Dark by Kristyna Litten

The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt

The Very Hunger Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers

Little Rabbit Foo Foo by Michael Rosen

Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman

So if you’re wondering which book to buy for a present for a young child, here’s a recommended list from the children themselves.

Thanks to all of our fabulous children and their teachers for providing the material for such an amazing exhibition. Thanks also to all parents for attending the exhibition and for writing such positive comments.

Lastly, a very special thanks to the parent who took these amazing photographs for all.
