What our Parents Say

"Hadi is our first child. When it was the time for him to go to school I was very anxious and nervous. However, when we first visited DBF, half of my anxiety was gone after meeting Mrs. Carpenter and observing the wonderful environment of the school. DBF won us over very quickly and allayed all of our fears. When it was my child’s first day at school, the whole family was nervous and excited about his reactions but thanks to the teachers and DBF staff,my child settled in very fast and easily. The school provides the structure that children crave, the tools that help children gain skills and staff that are nurturing and protective. It has only been a month that we are involved with the school but I already see a good change in my child. He is making new friends and learning different things everyday. DBF has given us gratification and I would like to continue with DBF for the upcoming years as well”

“We are very impressed with the school so far and have no complaints. There’s a very personal feel to everything, which is very comforting. We like how all the teachers greet the children by their names as we arrive and leave each day.Tate has never been happier and he is actually sad at the weekends when he does not get to go to school. He also adores his class teacher, Ms. O’Connell, and is always full of stories about what he does each day.I’m very impressed with how much he has learnt in such a short space of time and he is constantly surprising me with new facts!Thank you for such an amazing quality school!”

"The admissions process for the Dubai British Foundation was the most reassuring of admissions processes that I have experienced since coming to Dubai. Unlike at many other places, DBF ensured that my son and myself were completely at ease and relaxed before any request for me to move to the next room was made. My son had access to me at all times should he have required it - he didn't. Normally, my son dislikes the assessment process, but after the DBF assessment he has asked several times to return to play with Mrs. Carpenter - he really liked her. The process also reassured me that all my concerns would be answered quickly, fairly and with compassion. They're a great team!!"

We were very comfortable with the assessment process, being both a friendly and positive experience.

"I was very anxious about my daughter's assessment, as you don't know what to expect from her as a reaction to the new surroundings on that day. As soon as she was greeted at DBF with a balloon I felt she was more at ease to walk in. The fact that I was floating around the assessment room (play area) and waiting area made her more relaxed. The principal gave her space discovering the toys to get comfortable; the next day my daughter said to me that she wants to visit Mrs.Carpenter again!"

"We have found the admissions process to be extremely clear, simple and reassuringly professional while remaining lighthearted at the same time. From the initial contact with Melissa (Admissions Officer) through to acceptance and payment of deposit the whole process was smooth and quickly processed. We were very hopeful of getting Noah a place at DBF after hearing such good reports from the other Taaleem schools. We quickly put an application in as soon as we heard it was opening and Noah was promptly called in for the assessment. We were concerned about what the assessment would entail and worried Noah might not ‘perform’. However, the assessment was an enjoyable time for us as well as Noah. Noah spent 30-40mins “playing” under the watchful supervision of Mrs. Carpenter, while we enjoyed a cup of tea! Noah didn’t want to leave at the end of the assessment. I hope he enjoys term time half as much! We look forward to him starting school in September, also to seeing the school when completed and meeting the teaching staff in person. Thanks for making the admissions process so easy!"

The process has been very parent friendly starting from the simple online registration to immediate receipt of a non-automated acknowledgement e mail from the school for confirmation on the assessment. Needless to say the flow of information has been very smooth and the staff was very supportive. The assessment was conducted in a very easy, warm and child friendly manner and yet the observations that came out were so pertinent. As a parent, it is big comfort to have you child with a school that understands a child. The senior profile of the management/staff speaks of the importance, the school places on the early years of a child. And we are absolutely delighted to have our child with DBF.“ Would love to visit the school campus and look forward to meeting you again. Thank you. Kind Regards,
Rakhi
“As parents – especially first time parents- the “first” school was an important and difficult choice. Choosing DBF has proven, to date, to be a great choice. Our daughter Maya is thriving, happy and learning… That for us will always be a priority. So thank you DBF, you get an A from us! “

“We would really want to say thank you! Tymur is really enjoying going to “BIG” school every day. He has now a lot of new friends from his class. The teachers are amazing, helpful and creating a very nice environment for the class.Thank you again”

“DBF encourages the children to develop independence from the moment they enter the school building. Children are empowered to be responsible from the simple tasks, such as carrying their own book bag, rather than relying on the parents.Learning is not a chore but a fun activity at DBF. Music is a strong influence and provides a lot of action learning. Mrs. Carroll, Mrs. Ferris and Mrs. Webber provide a strong identity for the children and therefore, there is a lot of discipline that sets a positive class atmosphere”

“We are very happy that our daughter is attending a school where every child is individually taken care of. DBF is well equipped to meet the learning requirements of the little ones. The especial medical care of DBF is one of the most appreciable facilities. And the morning greeting for each child is another wonderful way of showing keen care of children at DBF”

We received the most warm welcome from the whole admission team as soon as we stepped inside including Mrs. Carpenter. It was amazing how Mrs. Carpenter put my whole family at ease within minutes fully understanding our nervousness as parents and my son's wonder about his new principal and school. She achieved that by explaining to us the assessment process fully in a clear but friendly way. Parents can stay with the child if they choose to do so and assessment room is a replica of a real classroom so that prospective students can immediately start exploring the toys and educational tools around engaging them immediately. The whole assessment is based on observation and interaction between the student and the principal. Parents may get a couple of clarification questions during the assessment if needed. We chose to stay in the office and Mrs. Carpenter kindly kept the door open so that we can be close if needed but not in the middle of the interaction. In fact, after seeing our son was already enjoying himself a lot all our parent nervousness was gone. We were just plain proud.

Mrs. Mendes offered us a cup of tea in the office and she was most helpful too. It is a very friendly process not only for the child but also for the parents.

"As newcomers to Dubai, my initial apprehensions about an 'assessment' for Isabella at DBF were quickly swept away by the warm, friendly yet professional welcome we received upon our arrival at DBF's temporary home. Despite being a relatively shy child, Isabella didn't need too much persuasion to play and interact with all of the fantastic toys and equipment in the classroom, whilst Mrs Carpenter quietly encouraged and observed. We were both made to feel incredibly comfortable, I remained in the classroom throughout the entire assessment and at no point was Isabella put under any pressure to achieve things beyond her own skillset. In fact she had so much fun painting pictures it was a challenge getting her to leave! The admissions procedure has been quick and efficient, and we are very much looking forward to becoming part of a school which I have no doubt will be a great success under such an enthusiastic and organised leadership."

"The experience with the DBF admissions and assessment process was very good for my child. The admission procedure was very efficient and kind. For the assessment, although my daughter is Italian and doesn’t speak English very well, the principal was so good to understand her qualities by talking with her and stimulating her to do the activities. Moreover, I was involved during the second part of the assessment and so I appreciate the approach as ‘child-and –parent-friendly’.”

We found the whole admissions and assessment process to be very positive and encouraging. For us parents who are sending a child to school in Dubai for the first time, we found Sue and her team to be highly responsive and clear as to the approach, curriculum, and processes that the Dubai British Foundation (DBF) has put together. The assessment process was very child and parent friendly. Our child was able to respond to Sue's encouragement and approach while we parents were well aware as to how the assessment process was being conducted. The overall direction that DBF has set along with the experience and approach of Sue and her team were very instrumental in our decision to accept an offer of a place for our son this September 2014.

“Every morning my son is welcomed with huge smiles and “hellos,” and every afternoon when he comes home he sings his heart out! We are thrilled with DBF; my son is stimulated and happy. The staff are incredibly positive and welcoming and Ewan is thriving thanks to them. I would 100% recommend this school to other parents and my 1 year old daughter is already looking forward to going”

"It is amazing to see Devesh blooming happily in his school environment and looking forward to going to school everyday. The way he says “my school”, “my teacher”, “my friends” says it all.Thank you DBF for everything!”

We are very happy with the school. It feels like a safe environment and the fact that it is a new building makes a big difference. Above all, we love our son’s teacher, Miss Martinsky, and we find that our son’s level of communication skills and perception of his reality has improved a lot. He returns home happy, full of nice experiences and speaks highly of his school. The teacher and teacher assistant keep our kids safe, clean and happy, and every new week there is something new for them to explore. Definitely the best choice of school! Many thanks to Mrs. Carpenter, who has brought her ideas to Dubai”.

We love the Dubai British Foundation! All the staff, from the Principal, to the teachers and support team are always welcoming everyone with a smile and a helpful hand. Our daughter's teacher, Miss Martynski is superb. She is very enthusiastic, engaging and full of creativity. We watch our daughter going daily to school with a great desire to join in and stay for a wonderful day ahead. The children are always doing something new and exciting, every week there is a new theme to explore and to learn from. It is a great school. We definitely recommend it!!

After reviewing the information on the DBF website my husband and I were keen to learn more. I filled out the online expression of interest and had a very swift response from Melissa in Admissions. She helped set up and initial meeting for my husband and I to meet with the Principle Mrs Carpenter to learn more about DBF. We liked Mrs Carpenters hands on approach to her role noting that she had been a principal and set up another well reputed school in Dubai. She had also had recent teaching experience as she still very much enjoyed teaching this age. We loved that she thought that the foundation years were the most important years of a child's schooling as that is when a love of learning is nurtured and established through fun learning and play. Mrs Carpenter answered all our questions thoroughly and we were very keen for our daughter to go for an assessment. The assessment itself was very relaxed and fun for my daughter. I stayed in the room with her and could see that Mrs Carpenter learnt a lot about my daughters abilities while they played happily together. We found out immediately that my daughter would be offered a place. It was so nice not to have to wait for weeks for a result and to get feedback on her strengths and areas to work on. I know my husband, myself and our daughter are all so excited and really looking forward to the start of term and to meet the full team.

"It was a great pleasure meeting Mrs. Carpenter. She was extremely warm and patient. I have never experienced such a warm welcome and kindness. I sincerely appreciate her help and kindness. I wish all schools had principals like her and Admissions officer like Mrs. Melissa. I am truly impressed by the way Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Melissa took interest in my case. Thank you...."

was extremely impressed with the admissions and assessment process. It was very personal and child centric. Melissa and Mrs Carpenter were very welcoming and interested in getting to know us as parents, as well as our children. The assessment was very informal but thorough. I was impressed by how much time Mrs Carpenter spent with our children getting to know them individually and her assessment of them both was insightful and very accurate. We left feeling very confident that our children will be well taken care of and their individual needs matter. So far so good!

Right from the beginning of the application process I was very impressed with how smoothly it all ran. The administration staff were very welcoming and helpful. My son and I went for an assessment for FS2 and was warmly welcomed by the head teacher. The classroom was bright and well equipped with up-to-date equipment and a full description of the child's day was explained to us. My son enjoyed the experience and we are very happy that he was accepted into the new school. Thank you
